Grandall Successfully Held China Global Investments Forum: Legal and Practical Challenges
The first China Global Investments Forum: Legal and Practical Challenges was successfully held in Beijing on October 16, 2015. This forum was hosted by Grandall Law Firm and organized by Grandall Law Firm’s Beijing office in China World Hotel, Beijing.

Yang Yihang, Vice Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of the People’s Republic of China Department of Commerce was invited to the event and had made an opening speech. Thereafter, Zhang Weihua, Supervisory Chairman of Beijing Lawyers’s Association, Carlos Parra, Representative of H.E. Ambassador of Chile to China, and Lawrence Swibel, President of the Interlex Group, also had presented their speeches.

During the opening ceremony, Hu Weiping, Secretary-General of the China Overseas Development Association, lectured on Key Points and General Framework of “One Belt One Road” policy, Simon Lee Yew Weng, Investment Consul of MIDA Malaysian Investment Development Authority, made a presentation of Business Opportunities in Malasia, Wang Weidong, Partner-in-charge of Grandall Law Firm (Beijing) delivered a speech on Innovation of Legal Service Model for Chinese Enterprises in their Overseas Investments.

This forum comprised of one main section and four sub-sections. The topics discussed in main section included investment policies inside and outside China, legal and cultural challenges faced by Chinese enterprises when conducting overseas investment under “One Belt One Road” policy, etc. The four sub-sections were Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific section, which were held concurrently to discuss issues regarding investments, M&A, company affairs, taxes, employment, construction, land, finance, competition, anti-trust and dispute resolution of such region.

Paula Yu, Liu Guolin and Hu Xintian respectively presented their speeches on the sub-sections.
Participants of the forum commented that, through direct communication and discussion, this forum successfully showed foreign law firms the great achievements made by China’s economic reform, and gave them an overall image of the strong vitality of Chinese economy and its role in boosting global economy. Meanwhile, the forum was also helpful to China’s legal industry in seeking development opportunity abroad and innovating in their service model. Representatives of companies attending the forum also recognized it as a great platform for in-depth communication and brainstorm by and among companies and legal experts.

This forum was held by taking the opportunity of Interlex Group’s 2015 annual meeting in Beijing. Over 100 top-tier lawyers from Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, South America and other regions and 240 senior officers of famous enterprises (such as CRRC, Minmetals, CNOOC, Datang Corporation, Broad Group, TCL, Yutime Petrochemical, etc.) had attended this forum to share their brilliant thoughts as well as the wonderful speeches presented by the forum. The forum also attracted huge media coverage, including Xinhua News, CCTV, China National Radio, China Radio International, Sina, Tencent and many other major medias.
